Bordeaux

Sassicaia is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with some Cabernet Franc. It has a Bordeaux-like structure with Tuscan warmth: elegant, fresh and finely balanced, and long-lived, with good vintages improving for twenty years or more.
Sassicaia is made at Tenuta San Guido on the Tuscan coast near Bolgheri, where Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta planted Cabernet vines in the 1940s. First made for family use, it was released commercially with the 1968 vintage and is often credited with starting the “Super Tuscan” movement.
It became the first Italian wine from a single estate to have its own appellation, Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, and remains in the hands of the Incisa della Rocchetta family.
