Chapelle d’Ausone is the second wine of Château Ausone, made in small quantities from the same vineyard. It gives a taste of Ausone’s concentration and minerality and is ready to drink a little sooner.
Château Ausone is named after the Roman poet Ausonius, who is said to have had a villa near Saint-Émilion. Its small vineyard lies on the limestone slopes just outside the town, and it has been run by the Vauthier family for generations.
Ausone was one of the two original Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” estates of Saint-Émilion. In 2021 it chose to leave the Saint-Émilion classification, but it remains one of the rarest and most sought-after wines of Bordeaux.
