Dom Pérignon Rosé is made only in selected vintages, with a share of Pinot Noir red wine in the blend. It is rich and vinous, with red fruit and spice, and is made in much smaller quantities than the white.
Dom Pérignon is the prestige Champagne of Moët & Chandon, named after the Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon, cellar master at the Abbey of Hautvillers in the late seventeenth century. The first vintage, 1921, was released in 1936.
Dom Pérignon is made only as a vintage wine, in years the house judges good enough, from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It is released after long ageing on its lees, and some vintages are released again much later as Plénitude 2 (P2), after even longer ageing.
