Le Petit Cheval is the second wine of Cheval Blanc, made from the estate’s vineyards by the same team. It shares the grand vin’s perfume and silky texture in an earlier-drinking style.
Château Cheval Blanc lies on the western edge of Saint-Émilion, next to the Pomerol border, on an unusual mix of gravel and clay soils. Since 1998 it has been owned by Bernard Arnault and the family of the late Baron Albert Frère.
It was one of the two original Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” estates of Saint-Émilion and in 2021 chose to leave the classification. Its striking modern cellar was designed by the architect Christian de Portzamparc.
