About this wine
The grand vin of Château Latour is one of the longest-lived wines of Bordeaux. Dense, structured and led by Cabernet Sauvignon, it is famously consistent, even in lesser years. Young Latour can be closed and powerful; it usually needs fifteen years or more to show its best, and great vintages last for half a century.
About Latour
Château Latour stands on a gravel rise above the Gironde estuary at the southern edge of Pauillac, beside the old tower that gives the estate its name and appears on its label. It was one of the four estates ranked First Growth in the 1855 Classification of the Médoc and has been owned since 1993 by François Pinault.
The heart of the estate is the walled vineyard around the tower, known as l’Enclos, whose grapes go into the grand vin. Latour is farmed organically, and since the 2012 vintage it has stopped selling en primeur, releasing its wines only when it judges them ready to drink.
