Bordeaux

Cheval Blanc is unusual for its high share of Cabernet Franc, often more than half the blend. It is fragrant, silky and sumptuous, often enjoyable relatively young yet able to age for many decades: its 1947 is one of the most famous wines ever made.
Château Cheval Blanc lies on the western edge of Saint-Émilion, next to the Pomerol border, on an unusual mix of gravel and clay soils. Since 1998 it has been owned by Bernard Arnault and the family of the late Baron Albert Frère.
It was one of the two original Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” estates of Saint-Émilion and in 2021 chose to leave the classification. Its striking modern cellar was designed by the architect Christian de Portzamparc.
