About this wine
Chambertin, the vineyard that gave Gevrey its name, is often called the king of Burgundy’s red wines. Rousseau is one of its largest owners, and its Chambertin is the domaine’s flagship: powerful yet refined, with great depth of fruit and the structure to improve for decades in good vintages.
About Domaine Armand Rousseau
Domaine Armand Rousseau was built up in the early twentieth century by Armand Rousseau, one of the first growers in Burgundy to bottle his own wine. Run today by his grandson Eric Rousseau and Eric’s daughter Cyrielle, it is one of the most revered estates in the Côte de Nuits.
The domaine’s holdings are concentrated in the finest Grand Cru vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin, above all Chambertin and Clos de Bèze. The wines are made traditionally, aiming for purity and finesse rather than weight, and demand far outstrips the small quantities made.
