About this coin

The 2018 “Unicorn of Scotland” – a majestic symbol of purity and independence, immortalised in one ounce of 999.9 fine gold. From the heraldic menagerie that guarded Her Majesty’s coronation, the Unicorn of Scotland stands proudly with its chained collar and royal shield. Minted by The Royal Mint, this coin unites Scottish legend with sovereign craftsmanship – a prized addition for any collector.

About The Queen’s Beasts

The Queen’s Beasts series celebrates the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at Westminster Abbey for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Each beast represents part of the Queen’s ancestry, from the Lion of England and the Red Dragon of Wales to the Unicorn of Scotland and the White Greyhound of Richmond.

The Royal Mint released one beast at a time from 2016, finishing with a completer coin that brings all ten together. Struck in 999.9 fine gold and issued as UK legal tender, the coins are free of Capital Gains Tax for UK residents. The series is one of the most popular modern collections among investors and collectors alike.
